First Birthday Sesame Street Themed Party

first birthday sesame street, by gavinmusic

A first birthday Sesame Street style will start with your invitations, these you can buy ready made or if you are feeling creative you could send yellow big bird foot prints with the party details on. Or you could use a photograph of your little one either surrounded by their favorite Sesame Street toys or by magically adding their photo to one with all the characters. If baking is more your thing you could send a cookie invite with a label attached with all the party details - this is obviously not an invite you can post, it fits in nicely with the Cookie Monster, although now the message is "Cookie is a sometime food".

Party decorations for Sesame Street can be bought and you can add a homemade sign to the front door with Welcome to Sesame Steet! Use balloons with bright colors and if you have some cuddly Sesame Street toys put those out to be played with.

Games for one year olds need to be kept very simple, you could have 'Find Big Bird' by sticking pictures up around the room that your little guests can find with their parents. Put some low down and hide a couple really well if you have competitive parents! There could be a prize when they find all of the pictures. Rather than just using one character you could have a picture of each character; Abby Cadabby, Bert, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, CountVon Count, Elmo , Bert, Ernie, Grover, Oscar The Grouch, Rosita, Telly Monster and Zoe.

You could paint a box blue, cut out a mouth and put some Cookie Monster eyes on it, then make some cardboard cookies for your little guests to feed to him.

Coloring sheets are always a good back up party game if things are getting quiet. There are lots available on the Sesame Street website here! Click on the link to be taken there.

Sesame Street music has had some classics over the years and a sing along and dance to some of the favorites would be fun at your first birthday party. Make sure you have enough space for the adults to join in!

When it comes to the party food keeping it healthy and tasty would fit in perfectly with the Sesame Street theme, have a Sesame Street toy as your centerpiece.

Your Sesame Street cake would look great if you take your little one's favorite character. This photograph is a Cookie Monster Cake that has been made up of lots of cupcakes, if you look carefully at the bottom of the picture you can see a few sticking out. This type of cake looks great when it is done well - but it can go so horribly wrong! For a bit of a laugh and before you start baking just have a look at these cookie monster disasters on Cake Wrecks it's enough to make you think it will be best to keep the first birthday Sesame Street cake as simple as possible.
