First Birthday Party Decorations

first birthday party decorations, by Crystl

First birthday party decorations can be expensive, especially if you buy some of the more popular childrens characters, and we have all done it - it's their first birthday so you buy the banner with Happy 1st Birthday on it, and then the plates and cups to match and the list goes on!

A clever way is to combine the shop bought items with ones that you have made or created yourself. I say create as you couldn't make your own balloons at home but you could take the colors of say Whinnie the Pooh and have red and yellow balloons alongside the shop bought bits.

A clever idea I came across recently were these beautiful banners with the girl's names on, you could create your own for the party and then use them to decorate your children's bedrooms. A double use is always good!

First birthday party decorations can also be very personal to your baby, they have come along way in the lst year. Display photos of your little ones from the day they were born up to their first birthday around the room it will get all your guests chatting. A friend of ours made their daughter a first hugs book with pictures of everyone when they came to visit, they had the book out at the party and had everyone write lovely messages on their pages. It will be a beautiful gift to their daughter when she is old enough to understand. Some people take this further and have memory boxes made up for their babies - filled with their first clothes and cards and momentoes, you can then ask your guests to add little notes to the box. This will end up being a great time capsule from their first year.

Decorating the table with all the party bits can be expensive but again you could use wrapping paper as the table cloth and then use plain papers and cups with color themed napkins. Paper streamers look great and are lots of fun when you are one and want to see what happens when you pull! Which reminds me make sure you tape the paper to the table - you don't want your perfect birthday meal to end up on the floor!

The key to creating beautiful first birthday decorations is to keep it simple as you don't want to overwhelm your little guests but lots of lovely bright colors go down really well.
