Elmo First Birthday Guide

Elmo first birthday, by Andrew Eick

Elmo first birthday parties are cool, your little one probably recognises that cute little red furry creature either as their favorite toy or when they get the chance to watch Elmo's world.

The beauty of Elmo's World is its simplicity, big white walls covered with crayon furniture and features would be easy to do yourself. Buy a couple of rolls of white lining wall paper from your local diy store and attach them to the walls. These are just for the party so it doesn't need to look perfect and it has to be able to be removed after! Now grab your crayons and draw a window and door and any other bits that you want.

Getting ahead of myself! You would start with your invites - these could be either a picture of Elmo, or a picture of Dorothy the goldfish or a crayon masterpiece. If you want to get the Elmo theme across you would probably be best to stick with a picture of Elmo on the front!

Games for a first birthday need to be simple, and for your Elmo party game you could make a goldfish bowl out of a plastic bowl and fill with homemade goldfish for your party guests to fish out. Make your goldfish from card or have goldfish shaped cookies.

Another simple game would involve one of the rolls of white wall paper and lots of big chunky crayons for your guests to get creative with!

You couldn't have an Elmo birthday without an Elmo cake! For an easier version you could just use Elmo's face as the cake, a round cake would be perfect for the job, choose one of our yummy cake recipes to make a healthy cake.
