1st Birthday Candle Ideas
The 1st birthday candle is a symbol of being one, you couldn't have a party without just one candle sitting on
the cake.
As with all things new, your very inquisitive one year old will wonder what that little stick sitting in their cake is. I have heard of parents introducing candles to their babies before the party so that they get used to it - I think that is probably going a bit far, just be careful and set the cake out of reach!
As well as the classic birthday candle you can also get novelty birthday candles, which are great but if your little one has a true love of ducks or Elmo they may not like to see them melting! Act quick and they won't change into a wax monster! Another alternative is the number 1 candle. When you have sung happy birthday don't expect your one year old to blow out the candle - for some reason, with my eldest I thought he would! A classic case of a delusional parent! They may need a hand, this is a great job for older children that you have at the party. A birthday candle can also be used to decorate
party invitations,
just tie or glue the candle to the front of the card, what could be easier! This is not such a good idea if you are looking to post the invites as candles can easily break - unless you have padded envelopes. You can also use pictures of candles for posters and to stick onto the party favor bags, or tie a real birthday candle to the handles as a tag with your guest's name.
