1st Birthday Cake Designs
1st birthday cake designs with ice-cream are a big hit with all ages and so simple to make! A tried and tested recipe - all in the process of research of course is a cookie and ice-cream cake, mmmm! You will need a packet of cookies or digestive biscuits, you need about 15 for the recipe and the rest to keep your energy levels up when making the cake. 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine and ice-cream of your choice. As this is a cake for a first birthday it is best if you choose a simple ice-cream; vanilla, strawberry or chocolate always go down well and vanilla is the easiest one to wash out of party outfits. You will want to break the cookies into crumbs and I have found the easiest and less messiest way is to put them all in a food bag and hit with a rolling pin. Put a chopping board underneath to save your kitchen surfaces! Melt the butter and then mix in the cookie crumbs, next squash the mixture into a cake tin with removeable base and pop in the fridge to set. When the base is set you need to spoon the icecream onto it, it helps if the icecream is slightly soft, and decorate with chocolate buttons if you want. Cover the whole cake with a food bag and place into the freezer until you need it. The great thing about this cake apart from the icecream is that you can make this cake easily before the party. Make sure you take the cake out before you need it so that it is soft enough to put a candle in!
